The Humphreys Cemetery, first burial in 1854, is an active
cemetery located about 2 miles southeast of Martindale, Caldwell County,
Texas. There are over 300 gravesites in this cemetery. The purpose
of this web page is to provide information about the cemetery and the
activities of those involved with care and upkeep. The Humphreys Cemetery Association, Inc was created in 2003 as a
Texas non-profit corporation to preserve relevant local history and maintain
cemetery property.

We will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first
burial on November 28, 2004. We hope to have obtained Texas Historical
Cemetery designation and a Historical Marker for dedication at that time.
We are urgently trying to establish contact
with all descendants and spouses of people buried in this cemetery so they can
participate and have a voice in our activities. If you, or someone you
know has been "out of touch", please Register so that we
know about you.
Since the cemetery is by and large the resting place of a
number of related persons, it is hard to not have some kind of genealogical
character to the Association's activities. Several families have a number
of burials. We hope to provide a means on this web page to tell us about
their history and it's relationship to the cemetery.
